Standing Firm (61cm x 61cm)

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but kind words will ground me, and in strength and courage I will rise above hurtful words”.

This piece stands as a turning point in this series.  What began as determination to push back against a childhood saying, has resulted in a sense of empowerment in knowing that we have the capacity to question, accept or reject the words thrown our way.

The bare tree stands strong and resilient against external forces, symbolising personal empowerment in the face of negative influence. We are encouraged to nurture our ability to remain grounded and whole, regardless of words cast our way.
